Uber’s exit from Uganda has left a significant gap in the country’s ride-hailing and transport sector, creating a vacuum that new homegrown platforms such as Swift Boda are stepping in to fill.
Swift Boda, a Ugandan ride-hailing platform, has launched its operations in Soroti City and expanded to Kampala, where registration of boda boda riders and cab drivers is currently ongoing.
The platform’s entry comes as other players in the transport industry continue serving Ugandans, with Swift Boda seeking to bridge the gap left by Uber’s departure and provide passengers with a reliable alternative for boda boda, taxi and delivery services.
The company has ambitious plans to extend its services to other major cities, including Mbale, Gulu, Mbarara, Masaka, Hoima, Jinja, Arua, Lira and Fort Portal, with the ultimate goal of establishing a nationwide transport network.
Through the Swift Boda mobile application, passengers can conveniently request boda bodas and cars from their smartphones without having to physically visit boda boda stages.
The platform also prioritizes passenger security by connecting customers with registered riders and drivers whose details can be identified through the application.
For boda boda riders and cab drivers, Swift Boda presents an opportunity to connect with more customers, receive ride requests directly on their phones and potentially increase their daily earnings.
Beyond passenger transportation, the platform also offers delivery services, providing additional convenience to businesses and individuals.
Swift Boda is now calling upon boda boda riders and cab drivers in Kampala and Soroti to register and join its growing network.
Interested riders and drivers can download the Swift Boda Rider App, while passengers can download the Swift Boda Passenger App from the Google Play Store.
